Engine Works was started in a two car garage in Wilsonville Oregon
in 2000. The company went by the name Riehltek Engine Development.
In 2005 we changed to name to European Engine Works, figuring it
was more descriptive. It is now 2007 and we have a 2400 square foot
shop right in the heart of downtown Oregon City. In the shop we
have a few machines to help us maintain the close tolerances we
stive for while building engines. We have two valve grinders, a
seat and guide machine, a boring bar, engine hone, and a large jet
wash to clean everything.

| Chris
Riehl started building engines at the age of 7. His first engine
was a Briggs and Stratton 3 horse lawnmower engine attached to a
mini-bike. It was also his first porting work. From there he went
on to build quite a few more engines before taking a Race Engine
Design and Development course from Sunset Engine Development in
Beaverton, Oregon after which he went to work for a local race engine
builder. While there, Chris learned a lot of the aspects of racing
engines and the inner workings of an engine shop. After some time
spent there, he left and went to work for Discount
Import Parts in Milwaukie, Oregon and started Riehltek Engine
Development as a side project, which has grown into what we now
know as European Engine Works.
